On October 7, 2026, Consul General Mme. Zhao Liying visited the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton. Deputy Consul General Liang Lin, NAIT Vice Presidents Mr. Peter Leclaire and Mr. Clayton Davis, the Dean of the School of Business, and representatives from the international relations department also attended the meeting.

Consul General Zhao highlighted China's 15th Five-Year Plan, which began in 2026 and emphasizes innovation, industrial modernization, and economic transformation. She underscored the vital role of education in developing the skilled talent needed to drive technological and industrial advancement. Noting the positive momentum in China-Canada relations, she expressed hope that NAIT would further strengthen its partnerships with Chinese institutions and promote educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries. 

Vice President Leclaire welcomed the delegation and expressed NAIT's  willingness to further strengthening educational cooperation with Chinese institutions.
