On October 1, 2026, Deputy Consul General Liang Wei attended a banquet hosted by the Chinese community in Edmonton, Alberta, to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Members of Parliament and legislators at the federal, provincial and municipal levels in Canada, the Mayor of Edmonton, friends from various sectors, representatives of the Chinese community, and others attended the event.

In her remarks, Deputy Consul General Liang Wei reviewed China’s development achievements over the past 77 years since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, and introduced the latest outcomes of cooperation between China and Canada in various fields. She encouraged the Chinese community in Edmonton to continue to follow the development of the motherland, actively serve as a bridge and link, and make greater contributions to deepening China-Canada friendship and practical cooperation.
