To celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, Chinese Consul General in Calgary Mme. LU Xu published a signed article on Oct.1st, calling for working together to protect the Planet Earth.

The full text of the article is as follows:

The Planet Earth is the common home of humanity.

Unfortunately, we are facing many global challenges:

---- Over exploitation leaves us with overwhelming pressures.

---- Climate change is gradually wiping out our favourite plants and animals.

---- Hegemonism and power politics are dragging us into disputes and wars.

---- Terrorism and cyber attacks are shrouding us with fear.

---- Global public health crises like COVID-19 are posing serious threats to us.

---- Nearly a quarter of the global population lives on less than US$3.2 a day.

For the sake of the fate of mankind and the better future of the world, and in celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China,

We hereby call for:

---- Build a world of lasting peace instead of a world plagued by Hegemonism and power politics, through mutual respect and dialogue among countries, with sovereign equality and rights of each country to independently choose its own social system and development path.

---- Build a world of universal security i.e. cooperative, collective, and common security, through joint contribution and shared benefits.

---- Build a world of common prosperity, through win-win cooperation and economic globalization with openness, inclusiveness, balance and benefit to all.

---- Build a clean and beautiful world with an ecosystem that respects nature, through sticking to green, low-carbon development and proactive and practical actions to tackle climate change.

---- Build a world of a better place with a shared future for mankind, through jointly fostering a new type of international relations.
